Thora Birch

Thora Birch (born March 11, 1982) is an American actress and producer. Her film debut was in Purple People Eater (1988) and was the recipient of the Young Artist Award for "Best Young Artistress under nine years of age". Birch became a cult when she was a child actor with films such as All I Want for Christmas (1991), Patriot Games (92), Hocus Pocus (93), Monkey Trouble (1994), Now and Then (1995) and Alaska (1996). In 1999 she was nominated for an BAFTA nomination. In 2001, she was nominated for Best Actress for Ghost World. Birch was also nominated for an Emmy Award in 2003 for her role as the lead character in Homeless to Harvard: The Liz Murray Story. Birch was also featured in Dungeons & Dragons (2000) and The Hole (2001), Silver City (2004) and Dark Corners (2006). She was nominated for an Emmy Award in 2003. Birch has also appeared in the role of Whisperer Maryas well as Gamma in The Walking Dead's season 10. Birch was born in Los Angeles, the eldest child of Jack Birch and Carol Connors. Birch is German-Jewishwith Scandinavian as well as French-Canadian. [6] Thora is her name. It derives from the Norse god Thor, thunder and lightning. If she were a boy it would have been the full name. She has a younger brother, Kian Bolt Birch.Birch's parents were former film actors, both of whom played in the movie Deep Throat. Based on their experience in the entertainment field, they were reluctant initially to encourage Thora. However, Thora's photo was seen by agents when a babysitter watched her fake commercials. The first time she got noticed was at age four when her babysitter took her to an audition for the Quaker Oats commercial.
