ALEX MORGAN BIO

Morgan was born on July 2nd, 1989 (Alex Morgan age: 30) to Pamela and Michael Morgan. They raised her and her two sisters, Jeni and Jeri, in the Los Angeles suburb of Diamond Bar. Morgan played a variety of games as a child but only started to play soccer when she reached the age of 14. After high school, she was a part of Cypress Elite's club team. They took home the Coast Soccer League Under-16 championship and finished third place in the under-19 bracket. Morgan continued to develop her soccer skills at Diamond Bar High School. The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) chose Morgan as an All-American Athlete. In addition, she was a part of the state and regional divisions of the Olympic Development Program (ODP). Morgan continued her career in soccer in UC Berkeley. UC Berkeley. She led the California Golden Bears team's scoring during her first season. She helped bring the team into the NCAA Tournament all four years and into second rounds twice. Morgan was one of four finalists for the Honda Sports Award. This resulted in her being the first Hermann Trophy finalists to be ranked as the top player on the list. Morgan was a graduate in 2010 and had the third highest number of points and goals for Berkeley. Morgan played soccer at the collegiate as well as the national level throughout her studies. During her first year on the Berkeley team, Morgan experienced an ACL injury which barred her from playing with the U.S. under-20 women's soccer team until April 2008. In Mexico, Morgan scored her debut international soccer goal at the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship. Morgan was also a part-time player at the 2008 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. She scored four goals, earning her team a gold-medal. One of these was the win goal in the match against Italy, which brought the U.S. a place in the 2011 World Cup. Morgan was the youngest member on the team and helped the team win against France. Though the U.S. ultimately lost to Japan, Morgan became the first ever player to score both a goal and an assist in a final World Cup game.
