Jennifer Carpenter Bio

American actress Jennifer Leann Carpenter, born December 7, 1979. She is known for playing Debra Morgan in the Showtime series Dexter, for which she was awarded an Saturn Award in 2009, and also for playing Rebecca Harris in the CBS television show Limitless. In 2019, she started as Erica Shepherd, the lead character in the NBC drama The Enemy Within. Carpenter's performance in The Exorcism of Emily Rose was her first major hit. Carpenter won the 2006 MTV Movie Award "Best Frightened Performance" and a Hollywood Life Breakthrough Award. She also received the designation of "Breakout performer" at the 2006 Scream Awards. In 2007, she began dating her Dexter co-star Michael C. Hall. They were married on the night of New Year's Eve 2008 in California. In January 2009, they publicly made their first appearance as a married couple at 66th Golden Globe Awards. Hall and Carpenter made public in December of 2010 that they had filed to divorce after being separated "for several years". They also made public appearances together at the Golden Globe Awards 66th edition in January of 2009. Carpenter and Seth Avett became engaged on February 10, 2015. Carpenter, who was eight-and half months pregnant when she filmed the pilot episode of Limitless, had her son in May of 2015. Carpenter and Avett were married in May 2016.
